====== Spending Money ====== This page is loosely about the process of spending Hackspace money. There are some parts of the [[https://github.com/hackerdeen/articles/blob/master/hacklab_articles.pdf|Articles]] that related to expenditure, but perhaps some general guidelines and thought beyond that are useful, as a reference point for people's expectations. We're generally quite cautious on spending hackspace funds, but that's a fair responsibility to the membership, which is, of course, where the money comes from. This page probably needs to be updated as and when the financial situation of the organisation changes, in either direction. ===== Starting point ===== Email the discus list with a useful amount of detail about what you have in mind, like... * What it is * Where we'd buy it from * Why it'd be good to buy * Any time-frames in mind This gives everyone opportunity to provide feedback and offer ideas and support in an open way. Obviously more detail is good when more money is proposed to be spent. ===== Small amounts of money ===== Expenditure of less than £20 would typically be classed as a small amount of money. Typically this sort of spend would just be OKed by 2 directors. Typically this sort of spend would just be OKed by 2 directors, after a brief discussion on the mailing list. Typically this sort of spend would require consensus from members via the mailing, with the majority sharing a view that it ticked boxes for usefulness and value.
